28 Jun 2021 - Canoe Instructor Course

CANSPEI will be hosting a Waterfront Canoe Instructor Course July 8-10, 2021 at Johnson Christian Park in South Range, NS. Cost is $75 per person for member camps and $100 per person for non-member camps. Registration can be completed online by clicking here.
 
Space is limited and Covid-19 procedures will be in place for the duration of the course.

17 Feb 2021 - CANSPEI Town Hall

CANSPEI is hosting a virtual Town Hall on Thursday February 18 at 6:30PM. To register, click HERE

This will serve as a roundtable and discussion on the current status of operating overnight summer camps in 2021. We will offer member camps the opportunity to share insights and logistics for opening under current restrictions.
 

21 Nov 2020 - Accreditation Statuses

Because of the complications for summer camps that have arisen during the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CANSPEI will be extending each camp's accreditation status for an additional year. This means that if your camps accreditation status was due to expire in March 2021, it now does not expire until March 2022. Similarly, if your accreditation status was due to expire in March 2022, it now does not expire until March 2023, etc. If you have any questions regarding this change, please contact us.

24 Jul 2020 - Government Lobbying

CANSPEI is about to start the process of lobbying our federal and provincial governments in an effort to secure some relief funding to support the overnight camping community in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. If you would like to participate in the process, click here to find out how.

12 Mar 2019 - Renewed 4 Year Core Funding from the Province of Nova Scotia

Thanks to the hard work of our board of directors and especially of our Executive Director, Derek Mitchell, CANSPEI has secured 4 more years of core funding from the Department of Communities, Culture, and Heritage our association's mission and programs. 

29 Apr 2018 - Camp Benchmark Cost Data Now Available!

Benchmark average cost data for camp’s food spending, salaries, and other camp operating costs, from the 2017 operations and participation camp data filling, is now available.  The benchmark cost data is on a per camper per day basis so each of our member camps can compare their camp’s operating cost spending to the average for all our member camps in Nova Scotia. 17 Mar 2018 - New Inclusion Tool Now Available for Camps

The CANSPEI board of directors has approved an Inclusion Tool Kit to help our member camps reach out to population groups that traditionally may not come to their camp. We look forward to hearing any suggestions or comments our members would like to share on their use of the tool!

08 Apr 2017 - CANSPEI has Partnered with Foodbuy to Help Reduce Your Camp’s Food Costs!

To learn more how your Camp can save money on your food purchases, just email Heather Cormier at Heather.Cormier@foodbuy.ca. A number of our association’s member camps already belong to the Foodbuy program and are saving on their food purchases. It is so easy to join the program – just keep buying from your existing food distributor and take advantage of the Foodbuy rebate program. Furthermore, Foodbuy donates a portion of your total camp’s purchases to the CCA and our association – at no cost to your camp!
