Why: To summarize: we as a camping community is better as a team. This is the opportunity for our hard working and committed community to gather, reflect, celebrate and plan as we work towards our next seasons of providing amazing recreational experiences for children, youth, young adults and others alike!

Who: We're opening this opportunity to our CANSPEI members as well as others in our sphere who would benefit from the conversations and reflections of our recreational camping experiences! From overnight camps to municipal recreation centres!

What: Well that really depends on you! Let us know in your registration below some of the pressing topics you'd like us to prioritize for this session!


2025 Spring Training Event
May 31st, 8am - 5pm to June 1st, 8am - 5pm
Hosted at Brigadoon Village on Aylesford Lake, Nova Scotia
1) Canoe Instructor Course (10 Spots Available)
Through Paddle Canada's Curriculum, the Waterfront Instructor is an entry-level instructor program is designed for those individuals that would like to teach in a small designated area (80 x 100 metres) such as a pond or lake beachfront in calm waters.
Participants must be a minimum of 16 and pre-requisites for this course include First Aid and CPR.

2) Standard First Aid & CPR C Course (16 Spots Available)
Through the Lifesaving Society's Curriculum, this course teaches participants the skills to recognize emergencies and medical needs of individuals, critical thinking in emergency scenarios and response when safe to do so. Operating on the 3 P's - preserve life, prevent deterioration and promote recovery - this 16h course meets the required need for accredited camps in NS & PEI.

3) Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) (30 Spots Available)
It can be daunting to ask someone if they’re experiencing suicidal thoughts. Knowing how to approach the conversation and having the tools to support can give you the confidence to help someone in need. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day suicide intervention training for anyone over the age of 18 interested in learning suicide first aid intervention skills.
Trusted by professionals, approved by the World Health Organization and learnable by anyone, ASIST is the only workshop of its kind. ASIST has been training people to provide suicide first aid interventions for 40 years. All participants will receive a certificate at the end of the course.

4) PENDING INTEREST: Archery & Outdoor Living Skills (20 Spots Available)
Many of our member camps have requested sessions and certification for archery and outdoor living skills in the summer camp environment. Pending interest, we would be excited to offer and host this on site in 2025.
Member Camps of CANSPEI: $100 per participant
Non-CANSPEI Member: $300 per participant. This reflects the cost of the course, accommodations and meals. Non-CANSPEI Member camps will receive an invoice from us following registration.
